The Northern Areas of Pakistan encompassing four of the greatest mountain ranges of the world (the Karakorams, Himalayas, Pamirs and the Hindukush) offer a smorgasbord of landscapes, cultures, habitats and races. Areas of south Pakistan are even more diversely attractive and interesting: offering different landscapes, cultures, faces, architecture and flora & fauna. Such a variety is found in very few countries and even regions of the world.

For those advanced in photography, a trip through these areas can prove to be of great value due to the multiplicity of the subjects available. Our Photo-Safaris are designed keeping foremost in mind the requirements of serious photographers and for this reason an experienced member of “The Pakistan Photographic Society” accompanies the group as a trip coordinator. We offer several interesting itineraries for these trips and can also design trips according to the requirements of our valued clients. You can either choose one of the given Model Itineraries or contact us for further options and prices.

AUTUMN IN BALTISTAN AND HUNZA – (14 DAYS)
OCTOBER

This novel and unique photo safari will take you through the beautiful valleys of Baltistan and Hunza at the time of the year when it looks its best. Autumn is a time when the landscape of these valleys looks like a painting. The trees throughout the valley seem to be on fire as their leaves turn gold, red, orange and bronze, contrasting sharply with the barren snow topped mountains and emerald green waters of the river snaking through the valley below. It is a photographer’s dream come true.

Retrace the steps of the ancient travellers across the Himalayas and Karakoram mountains and follow the path of the ancient Silk Route, now known as the Karakoram Highway, a unique roadway that provides one of the most adventurous and scenic journeys through Pakistan’s Northern areas.

Passing under the shadows of the mighty Nanga Parbat 8125 meters high, you pass through the beautiful valleys of Skardu, Shigar, Khaplu, Hushe,  Saling, Gilgit and Hunza. Explore these valleys on foot during the day treks and visit local villages to study and observe the lifestyle of the mountain tribes. Most of this region is a high-altitude desert rising from 1500 meters above sea level at  Gilgit to 8611 meters at the summit of K-2, the second highest peak in the world.

The steep mountains are cut into tiny terraces by the hardworking people and irrigated by a network of small water channels from the glacier streams. Ever bit of land is manured and cultivated to its full extent growing maize, barley, pulses and wheat. The villages consist of  huts built with wood and stone. Clustered around the houses are small orchards growing apricots, plums, pears, peaches, apples, mulberries, nuts and grapes while rows of poplar and willow trees line the irrigation channels and terrace walls, holding the soil in place and providing protection from the winds. The Autumn colors in these areas are truly spectacular during the last two weeks of October and  provide an excellent opportunity to take memorable photographs. An experienced photographer will accompany your group, guiding you to the best photo spots at the best time of the day. Nights are spent in comfortable and clean hotels while your travel mode is  Coaches and 4x4 Jeeps.
